Refund Policy
This Refund Policy explains when and how refunds are issued for any purchases or paid features on Crosschatter. Please read it carefully before making any purchase.
This policy should be read alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. By making any purchase on Crosschatter, you agree to this Refund Policy.
1. Free Service
Crosschatter's core features — including text chat, anonymous matching, voice and video calls, communities, the social feed, forums, and direct messaging — are currently provided free of charge. No payment is required to access the primary functionality of the platform.
This Refund Policy governs any paid features, premium subscriptions, one-time purchases, or other transactions that may be offered now or in the future.
2. What This Policy Covers
This policy applies to any monetary transactions on Crosschatter, which may include:
- Premium or Pro subscription plans (if offered)
- One-time feature unlocks or purchases
- Supporter or donation contributions
- Any other paid products or services offered by Crosschatter
This policy does not apply to third-party services you may use in connection with Crosschatter (such as Spotify subscriptions or mobile app store purchases), which are governed by those services' own refund policies.
3. Eligibility for Refunds
3a. Refunds We Will Grant
You are eligible for a full refund if:
- You request a refund within 14 days of the original purchase and have not substantially used the paid features during that period.
- You were charged in error (duplicate charge, incorrect amount, or unauthorized charge).
- A paid feature was materially unavailable or non-functional for a significant portion of your billing period due to issues on our end, and we were unable to restore it within a reasonable timeframe.
- Your account was terminated by Crosschatter without cause on our part (i.e., not due to a policy violation), and you had an active paid subscription at the time.
- A pricing error occurred and you were charged more than the stated price at time of purchase.
3b. Refunds We Will Not Grant
Refunds will generally not be issued if:
- You request a refund more than 14 days after the charge date (except in cases of billing errors or extraordinary circumstances).
- Your account was suspended or terminated due to a violation of our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines. Violations forfeit eligibility for refunds.
- You have substantially used the paid features or consumed the purchased content.
- You simply changed your mind after using the feature for more than a brief trial period.
- You claim you were unaware of the charge but continued using the paid features.
- The refund request relates to a free tier feature or a service that was never paid for.
- A one-time purchase of a consumable feature has already been redeemed or applied.
3c. Subscriptions
For recurring subscription charges:
- You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation stops future billing but does not automatically entitle you to a refund for the current billing period.
- If you cancel within 14 days of the initial subscription charge and have not substantially used the paid features, you may request a refund for that first charge.
- Subsequent renewal charges are non-refundable unless there was a billing error, service failure, or you cancel within 48 hours of the renewal charge and have not used the features since renewal.
- If we increase the price of a subscription, we will give you at least 30 days' notice. If you cancel before the new price takes effect, you will not be charged at the new rate.
4. How to Request a Refund
To request a refund, contact us at billing@crosschatter.com with the following information:
- Your username or account email address
- The date and amount of the charge
- A description of what was purchased
- The reason for your refund request
- Any supporting documentation (e.g., a receipt, screenshot of a billing error)
We will acknowledge your request within 2 business days and respond with a decision within 5 business days. If approved, refunds are processed within 5–10 business days to the original payment method, depending on your bank or card issuer.
5. Chargebacks
We encourage you to contact us before initiating a chargeback with your bank or card issuer. Most issues can be resolved directly and more quickly through our support team.
If you initiate a chargeback without first contacting us, we reserve the right to:
- Suspend or terminate your account pending investigation.
- Dispute the chargeback and provide evidence of the transaction and service delivery to your payment provider.
- Permanently suspend accounts where fraudulent chargebacks are confirmed.
A chargeback does not guarantee a refund — it initiates a dispute process with your bank. Contacting us directly is faster and less disruptive.
6. Billing Errors
If you believe you were charged incorrectly — including duplicate charges, charges for the wrong amount, or charges you did not authorize — contact us immediately at billing@crosschatter.com. Billing errors reported within 60 days of the charge will be investigated and corrected if confirmed. We take billing accuracy seriously and will issue a full refund for any confirmed billing error regardless of the standard 14-day window.
7. Refund Method
Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method used at time of purchase. We do not issue refunds as credits, gift cards, or to a different payment method than the one originally charged, unless the original payment method is no longer valid, in which case we will work with you to find an alternative.
Processing times after approval:
- Credit/debit cards: 5–10 business days (varies by issuer)
- PayPal or other payment services: 3–5 business days
- Bank transfers: Up to 10 business days
8. Taxes
Refunds are issued for the amount charged. Tax handling on refunds depends on your jurisdiction and your payment provider. We cannot guarantee that taxes collected will be refunded separately from the base purchase price in all cases. If you have tax-specific concerns, please include them in your refund request and we will do our best to accommodate applicable requirements.
9. Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Refund Policy limits or excludes rights you may have under applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction. In particular:
- EU/EEA consumers have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal from digital service contracts, subject to exceptions for digital content where delivery has begun with your consent and acknowledgment that you lose the withdrawal right upon delivery.
- UK consumers have similar rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
- Australian consumers may have rights under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.
- Other jurisdictions may have additional mandatory consumer rights that supersede the terms of this policy.
If applicable law in your jurisdiction provides you with rights broader than those described in this policy, those rights apply.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting a notice on the Service and updating the "Last updated" date above. Changes take effect upon posting. The policy in effect at the time of your purchase governs that transaction.
